D.Gray-man Volume 1 Nov 24, 2007
by Crenshinibon
I must make this clear- I have never been a huge fan of the shounen-action genre. The cliches typically have a tendency to become completely overwhelming, and the characters often seem to be very one-dimensional. However, D.Gray-man elicits a very different reaction from me, even from the first volume. The beginning is very well done, and the characters already have strong personalities. Allen especially makes for an interesting hero, despite a somewhat typical main hero past. Additionally, the main villain, who doesn't particularly look or feel like a villain at first, actually steps forward into the role quite easily. The series is at a solid starting point, and can only get better from here.
