Akari Mizunashi is training to become an undine gondolier, on the watery planet of Aqua. Along the way, she witnesses some wondrous sights as she discovers exciting new things about herself and her city. Akari is about to experience her first winter on Aqua by finding a new friend, a snow bug, and enjoying a trip to a hot spring. She also learns about Aqua's underground inhabitants and discovers the crucial role they play. Lastly, the volume ends with the traditional Venetian New Year's celebration and, most interesting of all, the Carnival.
