ELVES...IN...SPACE!! Sep 24, 2008
by TheRedArmy
Crest of the Stars is a good series, but not a great one. It revolves around the main character, Jinto, who has inherited the Countship of planet Martine. He is the first Land-person to recieve the title of count in the expansive Abh empire. Abh's primarily live in space, and so they often find themselves bored with land worlds. A law recently introduced by the empire allowed people who primarily live on land (Humans, in a sense) to hold titles.
Jinto was on his was to the Imperial Capital, Lakfakalle, when the ship he was on was attacked. He escaped along with a pilot trainee named Lafiel. A member of the royalty in the Abh empire, she is serving her mandatory military time. Jinto must also serve, but they are sidetracked when thier escape ship is forced to try to navigate home by themselves.
Obviously it's not going to be very appealing to non Sci-Fi people. It's one of those If you like it, You'll like this; if you don't like it, this won't change your mind type of animes. In general I have to say that the sci-fi parts are a little out there, but not TOO much.
To conclude, alot of things about it are good...but it's not amazing. It didn't wow and shock me like my favorites do. But the music is good, the art is good, and the story is good. I've had friends who have claimed it was the second coming after watching it though...so i'm just one man's opinion.
