This is where it all begins. I could say, O and what a beginning it is but the truth is you may not even like the first volume that much. And the simple reason is because Miura is a god and starts us off in the middle of the epic, revenge filled quest. We as readers are just not intelligent enough (especially me who quit the series for a while because I didn't care for the beginning) to understand what he was doing. He created so many question and they weren't answered right away; which readers usually can not stand. But once you read through the series and come back to it you say' WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS THE BEST FIRST VOLUME EVER!!!!!! And its true it really is something that must be read more than once to understand what Miura was doing, and appreceate it for the great first volume it really is.
I gave it 5 stars based not on my first reading which would have been much lower but of how great it is once truly understood.
The art is not at its peak here either. Though it isn't bad I actually like it quite a bit it's just different. It gets way better though to the point of, Wow can a human draw this well.
So sit back and read through Berserk and then come back to volume 1 and read through it again and try to prove me wrong. I BETCHA YOU CAN'T!!!!!
