Between Angels and Demons Oct 25, 2007
by TheReviewer
The drawings are absolutely stunning. If the reader is looking for an eye-pleasing manga, this would be it. From the eyes to the costumes, it is beautifully decorated and ornate.
While the story starts off with a bang and names are being thrown left-to-right, leaving the reader confused, the complex story starts off with the main character, Setsuna, and his sister, Sara. Their relationship may leave the reader feeling queasy, but it is a major element to the story that the characters must come to terms with. It is this humanity in the characters that allow readers to sympathize with and relate to.
However, ignoring religious aspects, the creator attempts to draw on the fact that angels are not so angelic, but rather more human and demonic. Seems like a oxymoron, but this perspective is attractive and claims attention.
Overall, it is a beautiful manga, and while it gets a bit gory, there's a remarkable story beginning, which will leave the audience wanting to read more (if they can understand who is who).
