Hitsuzen Jun 24, 2008 reviewed by loraxalia
I absolutely love Holic. I really recommend it to those who are looking for an alternative manga - although saying that, anyone can soon become a Holic-aholic. There's a great blend of comedy, horror, action, drama, cute critter side kicks (Mokona FTW~!) and romance to keep ANYONE interested, and the art is just beautiful!
The characters have a great amount of depth to them, and the relationships and interactions between each other are truly unique and profound, which I found to be quite heart-touching. The relationships aren't static either - they keep shifting around, deepening (or becoming further apart!) and the plot developments from these has enough twists and turns to rival any theme parks roller-coaster.
I love the main theme inevitability: how nothing is down to co-incidence. Many of the chapters revolve around this idea.
So - do not be discouraged by title with its pr0n-a-holic connotations, and step out into the wide world of xxxHolic today. Puu!

The world is a very small place, but for those who know it, it is very, very large. And the world when it is viewed by those who know is far larger than just one world can hold. Oct 11, 2007 reviewed by tenohikari
XXXHOLIC is a supernatural manga/anime series that crossovers with Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles - which was pure marketing genius on CLAMP's part, because one can't fully understand one series without reading the other.
There is so much to rave about XXXholic by itself, but I'll start with what I caught my attention first: the artwork is gorgeous. I'm not an art critic, but I know what I like and CLAMP can really out do themselves with their decorative backgrounds and character designs, but they don't go so over the top and the busyness just balances out the minimal pages fill with blank space.
Although it lacks the action of it's Tsubasa counterpart, in fact I thought I would be bored of watching Watanuki and his friends (hilarious as they are) doing the same old same old, unlike Tsubasa where they jump from world to world, but the story is rather dark and psychological, it just keeps pulling you in and before you know it, you're XXXHOLIC-holic.

A delicate balance of light and dark Sep 25, 2007 reviewed by Brittany Moo
This series is truely brilliant and I don't even read tsubasa chronicle! I even recommend you read this BEFORE tsubasa chronicle if you like dark shojo, mystery, and comedy (as appose to fantasy and action). The drawing style will instantly draw you in (it's so beautiful!) and the characters are so magnetic! As Kimahiro (a easily angered high school student being constantly haunted by spirits) works for Yuko (a beautiful, mysterious, comical and intelligent witch) granting wishes for something of equal value in return, the manga explores japanese myths as well as the dark mysteries surrounding Kimahiro's life. A well crafted EXCELLENT read

things i never knew of the world of magic Sep 04, 2007 reviewed by Poosie
i started buying this series because it tied in with another series of mine, tsubasa. i assumed that it would help me to further understand one of my favorite series. i soon found out that xxx holic had so much more to offer. these books take you to a new world seemingly not unlike our own, but deeper. i love the characters and the nice tidbits that i learn of japanese culture.
