The Anime has Nothing on the Manga Sep 25, 2008

For those of you used to the Yu-Gi-Oh! series that was based around the card game, you have no idea what you've been missing. The manga is just way better. It also doesn't focus on the card game. In fact, that game is barely even mentioned. I've read about 44 chapters, and it's only mentioned in 8, at most (most of which were 1 page references). The actual series is based around games. These games are usually life-or-death games. It is much more violent. It is much better. I actually enjoyed this quite a bit. However, some of the games played weren't well thought out and full of holes. It's just too unrealistic to be the best. That's why I only gave it 4 stars. I'd rather give it 4.5, though.

The awesome version of Yu-Gi-Oh Aug 17, 2010

Don't expect this to be anything like the Television series. This Yu-Gi-Oh is filled with violence, sexual content, and games. Yugi is a looser at his high school where he is bullied and ignored by others. Jonouchi becomes Yugi's first real friend after constantly bullying him, until Yugi defends him from a bigger bully. After throwing Yugi's last piece to his millenium puzzle, he gives it back to Yugi, and he completes it. Once he does, he is taken over by the spirit living in the puzzle, which helps Yugi when he needs help saving his friends or his own hide. The spirit then challenges the person threatening his host to a shadow game. A dangerous game where if the person playing looses, they must play a penalty game, which usually involves causing said person to have hallucinations, or loose their mind, ect.
Yu-Gi-Oh is a great read, altough episodic, each episode is an exciting experience. As a whole, it lacks in plot seeing not a lot of chapters are tied together, and there is no real consistency in the story, so it is to be enjoyed chapter by chapter.

The birth of the brutal rivalry between Yugi Moto and Seto Kaiba. Also it shows the true bond between Joey Wheeler and Yugi. Yugi loses his rarest cards and yet becomes stronger... If you love the card game this is a must have. Even if you dont play the game its a brilliant anime dealing with strategy, friendship and never giving up.
