A pretty and funny shojo manga Jun 13, 2007 reviewed by Rainy
This is a very funny and fun series, it's about a group or overly gorgeous guys who try to makeover a drab and dark girl. The story line sounds a little corny but Sunako (the main girl) makes this manga fun and hilarious. I love her strong will, awesome fighting skills, and her love of darkness. There is an anime for this manga called Perfect Girl Evolution but the manga is much more fun and the art is much better. If you like funny shojo, this is a good one to check out.

How To Get Free Rent From Wallflower Jun 15, 2007 reviewed by Shin
Step 1. Be Extremely Handsome or Cute, 4 is a good number Step 2. Have a Rich Lady invite you to live at her house, Make sure the lady has a shy, humble niece who does not act like a women Step 3. Make a deal with the lady to turn the niece into a women Step 4. Have many silly adventure's with the niece in trying to make her act more lately like, normally ending in nose bleeds.
Miss Sunako is that wonderful, charming... Oh who Am I kidding. Sunako is a crazy girl who is obessed with Horror, Horror Movies, Horror Props, Horror anything. She is about as far lady like as one can get. While Kyo, Yuki, Ranmuri, And Taskashi.... *This part was censored by the Government for being far too hawt for just the mind to comprehend*. So you have 4 extremely attractive men with a girl who can not even be around them for more then a few minutes with out getting a nosebleed. Sunako will be on her Journey of being a Women with these four boys as they teach, or try to teach this girl what it is like to be a women. That is useless she decides to kill these magnicifient creatures.
Wallflower Is really a fantastic series. Its has a great list of character(Personally Yuki is just too cute). Its one of those feel good types where you are beautiful even if you do not think it. A definite read for all fans

Love this manga Series! Jun 28, 2007 reviewed by manga-freak
Wall Flower is a pretty entertaining series (belive me) In each book it has a very entertaining story. For example on the first one they try despertly to help her on her looks but she Sunako won't let them so they go to drastic measures, then on the second one it's christmas time! but Sunako's soul get's tooken over by this english lady and the guys caan't belive that she's turning into a lady!( But of course it's not her it's the english lady.)Then later on the night Sunako A.K.A the english lady tyes them up on chains(kinky I know.) to kill them. But they drive her out of her body then all is good. Well on the third one they go on a little trip which turns out to be a mystry murder, and on the fourth one Sunako get's trapped in a building that's on fire (you'd think that she would be screaming her head off but nope she was dancing in a burning barn!) Of course that's Sunako for you lol. DON'T WRRY THERE'S MORE!!!!! But I think you should read it your'e self :p

Awesome manga! Aug 04, 2008 reviewed by Natsu
The story is humorous and cute but there's really no plot development. It's like Ranma 1/2, you have the characters and you read about their sidestories. However, the characters really grow on you and are absolutely adorable. Sunako kicks lots of butt!

Great Series Oct 30, 2007 reviewed by Bre
I love this series! I also love Sunako! She is NOT like any other girl that I have ever read about. She kicks some serious butt!!! I would definately recommend this story to anyone who likes cute boys, skeletons, and never knowing what is going to happen next. Every book is a new dilemma and there is never a dull moment! Whenever I get a new book, my friends beg me to hurry up so they can read it. I would give it 5 plus stars!!!

Cute Guys and a Horror Movie Fangirl – That’s Funny in Itself Jul 25, 2007 reviewed by DamageCtrl
Baring a distinct art style and plenty of laughs, “The Wallflower” is a light, breath of fresh air amongst the sea of drama and angst filled high school romances; if it can be called as such. Nakahara Sunako, horror movie fanatic, goes to live in her aunt’s sprawling mansion while she attends high school. Waiting for her are four devastatingly handsome young men – personifications of the stuff teen girls’ dreams are made of – with the intent to live for free. The only way to do that is to turn the darkness loving, blood and gore worshiping, slob Sunako into a lady befitting the house. Easier said than done. Packing surprisingly good home making skills, martial arts prowess, and a stubborn pride, the boys have their hands full with Sunako. There is no dosage of heavy romance between Sunako and any of the boys, but rather mutual respect, friendship, and understanding; particularly with one violent, cocky housemate who might have a soft spot for her. A cheerful, humorous look at friendship in the making, “The Wallflower” is a great read when you want something entertaining and fun, but not too addicting, deep, or weighed down with drama and romance.

Exciting and Different Jul 12, 2007 reviewed by Obsessed (Wallflower, The Vol. 01)
I had to say something about the art in this series. The art is extremely different. The author bases her characters on real Japanese musicians and due to this the characters actually look Japanese. Not a single character falls under the perfect looking, big eyed, shojo character that this type of work is prone to (think Fullmoon, anything by Yuu Watase). Due to this the art may be off putting to some. I think it is beautiful and completely original.
The only downside to the art is that Sunako (the main character) is usually drawn as a simple cartoon. When she is drawn she is beautiful and it makes you wish the author drew her like this more often. Also, the backgrounds are extremely sparse and sometimes there is nothing at all.
The plot lines (I have up to volume 12) are somewhat episodic (but there are cliffhangers), but it works. It feels like you're getting snipets of the life that the four boys and Sunako have together and their interactions. Plus, this is a truly funny book. Sunako tries to kill people, Kyohei is constantly being kidnapped or abused, Ranmaru has dated every women in the tristate area, and so on. There really is nothing like it.
All in all, if you want something funny, fresh, and original give this series a shot. Just know that you'll have to be patient to get the next vol. New works come out quarterly.

Wallflower #11 Jul 08, 2007 reviewed by Fluffyrain (Wallflower, The Vol. 11)
*Please excuse all gramatical errors and spelling, I'm a moron*
Well, If you didn't know already, Wallflower is by the incredible Tomoko Hayakawa and is part of Del Rey publishings. It is for 16+ and is comedy/romance(ish). I can't remember how I stumbled upon Wallflower in a huge aisle of manga, but I am certainly glad I did. So, this twelth one I think is the best one since the first one. Literally you could skip from one to eleven and not miss much (except for ocasional intros of characters) The art is great (as usual, and Sunako and Kyohei grow closer (yes!). If you were ever losing hope in Hayakawa's series, read this one.

Wallflower is a must read!!! Jun 30, 2007 reviewed by adokenaiusagi
Wallflower is a by far my most favorite manga series at the moment. Even though I was wary of the slightly sexist main storyline of the manga, I think that the author deals with it in a way that respects the fact that not all girls have to be centerfold material. I find this manga series to be hilarious and yet dramatic at the same time. I would definitely recommend also checking out the anime series: Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge.

Beautiful Comedy Jun 20, 2007 reviewed by Koneko
^^ I love this series. The craziness never seems to end, though there are pauses. Even the ocassional blood and gore can be seen as beautiful ^^ The boys certainly are hotness incarnate. And the lead girl is a hoot! Though strange beyond belief and seeming to lack any feminine traits whatsoever, she shows glimpses of her beauty through her horror film fantatic fancies. ^^ A totally fun series to follow

WALLFLOWER DVDS= EW! May 16, 2008 reviewed by Fluffyrain
Voices SUCKY. Oh my goodness, Sunako-chan's voice was high pitched are perky, and Yuki's sounded like a raspy voiced girl...Just horrible. The episodes...ARE JUST LIKE THE MANGA. Theres no difference! In FLCL theres different stories in the manga and anime, same in Wolf's Rain, and also in Samurai Champloo, but no, in Wallflower (DVD) its exactly like reading the manga, but with un-fit voicesscreaming into your head. Also, another negative, sometimes the art gets lazy and make people into white gingerbread-men shaped people with no background.
Overall, everything is sucky, but still, hilarious (woo! one plus!) But if you are a die hard Wallflower fan, this will be nice to look at in your collection once in a while.

this story cracks you up over and over again Aug 17, 2010 reviewed by :.Vita Dolce Moderato.:
this is such a nice story!! right now i'm reading the 13th wallflower manga, and it's still fun. but even though you won't get bored with this serie, a lot of the same thing happen in this manga.
A Funny thing about this manga is that they name famous characters( yes japanese stars.. but the ones that i mean are.. the girl from ringu, and other scary movie creatures xD)
So don't expect a real deep story with this, just read this when you want to forget everyting around you, and have a fun time reading!

One of the best books ive read!! Aug 17, 2010 reviewed by Kiki
I find this very intriguing and funny. Even though the cover didn't not appeal me at first the story and plot is hilarious and fun. This does remind me of Love Hina slightly, you will be pleasantly surprised that it is not. One of the best manga Ive read and it is in my top 10 favorite list.
