One of the best game manga, and general manga series I've ever seen. Aug 11, 2008

I'd heard of suikoden once or twice from friends but never played a Suikoden game or felt interested, this manga made me love the series and buy the games.
Within the first volume, even though tons of new characters were introduced and the overall story of the game series confused me, there wasn't a character group I didn't feel something for when I finished the first volume, even if only curiosity, and wanted to learn more about them and the Suikoden world to the point I borrowed every volume of the series from the library, then purchased it here.
For those who've played the games or are familiar with the story there's new information, insights, and back stories to the most popular recurring characters as well as those unmentioned or ignored before and revelations and elaborations on things touched on briefly in game that'll expand the world and history of Suikoden even further as it clicks into place.
For those new to Suikoden, this series is a wonderful introduction and stepping stone into the game series, or an excellent manga series that stands by itself without needing any prior game knowledge for those who don't like or can't afford video games.
Whether newly finding or returning to Suikoden, the fantastic art, character development, humour, strategic war planning, battles, country wide and individual triumphs, disasters, losses, alliances, and of course the runes behind it all, make an in depth fantasy manga series filled with plot, meaning, and a detailed cast of memorable and likable characters.
