Renji is the rogue angel of every girl's dream! This is a series you won't regret buying. You'll love the guys in this manga too! You've got two duos to fall in love with: First, there's Renji, the bad-boy angel who fights like a demon, but wants to be a good angel, and his partner Kaito, the straight-laced supervisor of Renji while he saves his 10,000 souls, who is the only fighter who could match Renji in strength. Renji thinks they have nothing in common but later realizes that Kaito has felt the same outcast feeling he has.

Next, there's the two devils you can't help but like, Vinny and Toi--Vinny is a super-dark, sadistic devil who has a special interest in Renji and that keeps them coming back for more battles with the angel duo, and Toi is Vinny's smart-mouthed, chain-smoking subordinate whose personality reminds me a little of Sanosuke from Ruruoni Kenshin. Both devils dress like Goths/punks, fight like the demons they are, and want nothing more than to make everyone (including Renji and Kaito) as miserable as they are in hell.

The storyline moves well, the action is clean (not too muddled up with screen tone or sound effects like some tend to), and there is quite a bit of comedy and romance in this manga as well. Therefore, shojo, action, fantasy, and comedy fans will all have something to like in this series. The best part is with 10,000 souls to save, readers can spend a lot of time watching the exploits of Renji and Kaito.

A basic plot line. An Angel is banished from heaven and needs to save more souls to get back into heaven. Each chapter has it's own little soul saving story and usually references to previous chapters are rarely made.

The art is nice, but nothing memorable, and the characters are well made. A good easy read if you've got nothing else or simple want to relax. :)

Well, I was browsing the shelves one day and I came across this book. Being a huge fantasy fan I gave it a shot.

The plot is a bit formulaic. The main character is a rogue angel who is kicked out of heaven until he can save 10,000 souls. A fact that runs contrary to his combative nature. He is given a watchdog as a sidekick. (And thus the two main characters are born see front cover) Since this is only (?) a two volume series I can't see how the author wraps it up unless it is an incomplete series. Basically this is a typical he can save anyone type of plot line.

As for the art it is clean and nice but nothing notable. Angels are pictured as futuristic army men in white complete with helmets. God is also pictured in a similar manner - a fact that I disliked. At least in Angel Sanctuary Kaori was smart enough not to actually draw God which made the work feel more real. Devils look like street punks with black wings and one devil look like he hasn't slept in a year with such large black lines under his eyes. Perhaps the only really entertaining thing here is that the main character, an angel, is heavily tattooed. It's just too funny.

All this said, the book was still entertaining and fun as a quick read. It is not a great must have work, but for something a little silly and light hearted it is perfect.
