Slayers Synopsis: This first all-new Slayers graphic novel stars the popular characters Lina Inverse, the hot-headed sorceress, and her fighting sidekick, the loyal but sometimes hapless Gourry Gabriev. In this first series of Slayers adventures, this pair of always-in-trouble wanderers gets into hot water pursuing various madcap plans to snatch treasures. The only thing that distracts them from their next get rich quick scheme is the possibility of a gourmet meal. When Lina and Gourry pursue the priceless Crystal Goddess statue, they try to outsmart the notorious Black Fox, only to have this dangerous outlaw fall head-over-heels in love with Lina. After escaping the Black Fox’s unwanted attentions, Lina plunges them deep into a palace intrigue when they pursue the treasure of Prince Brochion, and then it’s Gourry’s turn to lead them into trouble when he gets kidnapped by the smitten Princess Isabella. It is a manga adaptation from the fifth Slayers motion picture, the first one in which Lina Inverse and Naga the Serpent are not traveling together. Lina, Gourry and the rest of the gang arrive to a seaside little town, famous for its octopus dishes, and Lina manages to awake a curse that turns the inhabitants into octopuses. The story is quite fun and there is some chaos and destruction, as usually is when Lina Inverse is around, but, if you've already seen a lot of Slayers, gags become quite predictable. Also, if you are a great fan of Naga the Serpent, I should recommend you to look for another manga - she has only a short cameo in this one.
