Interesting little war story Jan 05, 2008

This one took a while to grow on me. Pumpkin Scissors is the name of a war relief division of the military that is charged with making post-war life better for civilians. They man soup lines, check out instances of ex military abuse, and generally stride towards rebuilding post war.
Its an interesting society royalty still exists but it seems to more as a title & wealth center more than an actual ruling class. During the war there were awful nasty human experiments, secret technological advances ( the tank is the uber weapon in this particular culture ) and all of the really dark things that come out of human nature in times of power struggle. One of the great mysteries during the war was the activity and development of the Invisible 9s ( 9th Division ) and what they are up to / where they are now that a cease fire has been signed. They are power balance tipping, civilian crushing level bad things.
This anime has caught up with the manga, so it leaves things a bit untidy. Here's hoping they continue when there is more source material.
