The Epic Horror Romance... Nov 07, 2008
reviewed by Blue Blazer
The Monsters of American Horror films come to life, as protrayed in this very unusual story. Set in a fictonal Japanese town, Princess Resurrection features what you might call the reversal of a Vampire. Once the main character Hiro Hiyorimi finds himself unaware of what happend to him, an irrisistable urge guides him tward the house on the hill. After dealing with a Werewolf, he is given semi-immortality by his new master Hime; the new owner of the mansion. The complex story unravels about Hime's family, and the responsibility Hiro now has to stay alive. Many of the jokes you will not understand, but that's what the last pages are used for: info on the Japanese language/culture. Hime uses a different weapon in just about every chapter, but her faveorite weapon is the Chainsaw dipicted on the front cover of Volume 1. As the story progresses, Hime and Hiro become more dependant on each other during monster fights. At some points Hiro is either brainwashed or has been kidnapped, keeping him from Hime and near death. The villian of the series, Duke Kiniski, is based heavily on Count Dracula but with less fancy clothing. In about 3 or 4 chapters you will probably grow fond of the characters as well as thier humerous antics between battles. After seeing Vampires, Werewolves, Mummies, and now Giant Bugs, the Next volume will have the most generic of all monsters; Zombies.
