ai land Jul 10, 2007 reviewed by hitachiin_love (Princess Ai Vol. 02)
The first volume wasn't all that catching, but what first volume is? This is where it starts getting good. Alot is crammed in due to the fact that there's a mere three volumes in the whole series and no room for anything to be spaced out. Beware:Ai does wear some pretty skimpy clothes.

so-so Jul 12, 2007 reviewed by hitachiin_love (Princess Ai Vol. 03)
The ending really dissapointed me and all my friends. We didn't like the ending because, like the second volume, there was too much crammed in and it made it look like there was going to be a second series. There's a rumor that there's going to be one called Ai-land.

A short, but beautiful drawn serie Aug 17, 2010 reviewed by :.Vita Dolce Moderato.:
At first I had to get used to the style of the manga, but now it's probably one of my favorite styles. the only thing I diddn't like about the serie.. is that it was WAAAAY to short! Just when you're really beginning to love it, the story is allready over ( thank god prism of the midnight dawn came out!)
But even though it's short I would recommend this manga to everyone who likes a love story, rock style.

Eh, its okay... Jan 10, 2009 reviewed by SaraDiva
I thought the story was rushed, the action was lacking, the villains forgetable (apparently Princess Ai LOVES to pose, too, because she does a lot of that) and the songs are hard to imagine being I've never heard them. So that takes away from it a bit. Also the characters were okay, but not very deep. I liked some of them, but only mildly. Its like, -Oh, he's kinda cute. I hope they show more of him. Uh, oh, here comes the bad boy... He's kinda cute. I hope they show more of him...- I reallly think this series was meant for people who were already fans of the music or have seen the anime (I believe there's an anime). But for the rest of us, the books are readable, but also quite passable. The series is all right, but nothing great. However, I will give it three stars because I'm mostly looking at it from a meeting Ai for the first time point-of-view, and really, the stories aren't all that bad. I just didn't care...

Glossy but not so deep Aug 04, 2008 reviewed by otherunicorn (Princess Ai of Ai-Land: The Comic Strip Collection)
This looks at the trials and hi jinks of a young Princess Ai. It is nicely presented in glossy full color. There is a general story flow between the strips, but they are primarily single-page funnies. The art is good, but differs from that of the original manga. Don't expect anything deep and meaningful here. It is none the less an enjoyable read. I would recommend reading the original manga first though.

Princess Ai...by C. Love? Jul 28, 2008 reviewed by Star_Angel_Genesis
Must admitt, while this series isn't the greatest out there, its defianlty not the worst I've read.
The begining is somewhat a genaric one. She wakes up not knowing who or where she is, however the way it developed afterwards was not all that bad. ((there have been worse)). I did kinda find the lyrics to be genaric and boreing. Music is ment to be heard not read however it did kinda put this series in it's own spotlight. Poetic, but in an emo kind of way. I found that the further you went into the series a little more interesting it'd get. As its only three books and not the worst, I do recomend this series. Her costumes are almost Amy Brown-esc in more ways than one. I was sceptical of this series at first but found my curiousity to get the best of me. Theres just enough un-answered questions that makes you wanna finish the series.

Very pretty Jun 24, 2008 reviewed by otherunicorn
This is best read as the Ulitmate Edition or with all three volumes to hand. The first volume presents little more than questions, but as the story progresses, you get more answers than you were expecting. It was a pleasant change to see a story where the good guys weren't always good, and the bad guys weren't always bad. The art is a treat, especially Ai's fashion sense in the earlier parts of the story. I certainly enjoyed reading it.

Good and Bad.... May 13, 2008 reviewed by badgirlt2
I thought the beginning and end was a little disappointing but I did like this series. It had romance, comedy, and action. I think the author could have at least given it a better ending..... The story is basically a fantasy about a girl who finds love, sings good, and is being hunted....I do recommmend you read it if you like romance and comedy thought.....though it isn't that funny.....

Just Ok Jul 25, 2007 reviewed by anime_luver29
This story could have been much more if it wasn't only 3 books long and there was more build-up and drama in it. I've read a lot of manga series that are much better than this, and I can honestly say that if you're tight on money you should save it for other series.

AWFUL Jun 07, 2007 reviewed by AnimeG0ddess (Princess Ai Vol. 01)
I wish there were zero star ratings because this would get it. I don't understand why this series is so popular other than the people who like it haven't read many other manga series. It's a very generic story about a woman who wakes up on the street without any memories. Magically, she turns out to be a princess from another world and scary people are after her life. She has a beautiful singing voice that can enchant all who listen to her. Oh, and a kind man picks her up and allows her to stay with him without any reason or motive. She then gets a job at what really appears to be a strip club or at least a hostess bar. On her first day of work, she shreds her clothes a little bit to look all punk and forces her way on stage and sings. Everyone is instantly enchanted by her beautiful singing and magically no one seems to care that she's off doing whatever she wants rather than her job. There is no character development, crappy plot, and it really just seems like a poorly written fanfiction. Oh, and did I mention that the original concept was created by Courtney Love? Why would you let Courtney Love come up with a manga plot? She's a drug addict! This is the most horrible manga ever written! My recommendations below are for series that have some of the same elements as Princess Ai, but are actually well written.
