Rich man, Poor girl Jun 16, 2008
reviewed by Amanda19
You really find yourself pulling for the heroin in this series. She's not the sharpest tool in the shed and her family ends up selling her as a slave to the main male character because of a medical debt left by her grandfather, but she's a tomboy to boot and she has a really positive outlook on life so you dont find yourself thinking Oh great, another sob story. You also find yourself rooting for the main pair up. On the surface, it appears to be your standerd cute spunky girl meets sadstic evil boy relationship where they learn about the world and different outlooks of other people and themselves by going through many trials together and such; but this series has a little mysterious twist that keeps you wondering What really happened to him/her?.
The artwork is great (pretty modern with good looking guys!) and the story is a little different, but follows the same typical guidlines for an all around enjoyable manga. My only warning to you guys is that if you do choose to buy this series, beware that Tokyopop is rather slow with releasing volumes (but its supposed to last for a while so in the long run its worth it.) Happy reading!

More than I expected Apr 01, 2008

When I picked up this book I thought it was just going to be another poor girl gets tangled up with a rich spoiled boy with a happily ever after ending type manga, but as I kept reading a lot of mysteries regarding the boy and his rich family ensued. I'm up to volume 6 and still very surprised by how different the story has become from what I expected, and I have a lot of high hopes for the type of conclusion it shall hopefully have. Platinum Garden is quite unique, I wouldn't say it's an awe inspiring 5 stars, but definitely deserving of a comfy 4.
