... and I completely LOVED it. Totally instantly hooked. The whole concept was just so cute. Playing Mizuki off as the adorable, loveable dorm cat was just too cute. And of course it's only natural that romance ensues. The plot is really wonderful, and plays out nicely. You get some back story, though it did still leave me wanting more. All in all, Pet on Duty was just cute as all get out. I wish this was a series, and not just a stand-alone book. Wonderfully done for us yaoi-lovin' fans.

Interesting new line of yaoi Jun 02, 2008

Pet on Duty is a cute yaoi work from the new boysenberry division of broccoli books. The book itself is somewhat smaller than the average manga, but the pages are pristine white with beautiful black ink. By far, this is the best quality book I have in yaoi.
As for the story, the work flows well from page to page. The premise is that Mizuki, our loveable uke, looses his job and apartment so he illegally moves into his brother’s company dorm apartment. The dorm requires that all member who live there be employees of the company. So Mizuki literally becomes a “pet” in the sense that he cannot leave the apartment or risk getting his brother in trouble.
Naturally, sweet little Mizuki falls for the rough-around the edges Kudou. The pairing is very common, but the supporting characters really save this work from the ordinary. The frustrations Mizuki experiences due to his “house arrest” are understandable. The everyday scenes that the various characters go through are so normal that it is interesting. I even love the investigation of the apartment above regarding an actual cat (something also not allowed in the dorm).
There are some good, but edited, sex scenes sprinkled throughout the work. And some extremely enjoyable kissing and flirting between the two boys. Any yaoi fan should be quite happy with this work.
