Pet Shop of Horrors Synopsis: A smoke-filled alley in Chinatown harbors Count D's Pet Shop. The pets sold here aren's your everyday variety and the Count prides himself on selling Love and Dreams in the form of magical creatures that come with an exclusive contract. But buyers beware. If the contract is broken the Count cannot be held accountable for whatever may happen. A fascinating and macabre look into the very soul of human nature. Contains the following stories: DREAM Young Angelique learns the tragic nature of breeding the rarest of birds Ethe Strelizia. DESPAIR Out-of-luck actor Robin Hendrix has always preferred the company of reptiles, so it's only natural that he would fall in love with a very special, and dangerous, one. DAUGHTER There is no love stronger than a mother's love for her daughter, but one mother is about to learn that love can be quite painful. DREIZEHN They say that a dog is a man's best friend, but for the recently blinded Karen, the bond with her new seeing eye dog is even closer.

A beautiful lie... Mar 04, 2009 reviewed by aklishak
Count D runs a small pet shop, he sells birds, lizards, MERMAIDS,dogs, PAINTINGS THAT COME TO LIFE, cats, bunnies, and MEDUSAs... yeah pretty normal and simple right, but a detective just has a bad vibe about Count D and Leon will find out why. It sent chills down my spine at how it portrayed humanity. And it was spot-on.

This was great! Dec 17, 2008 reviewed by Brianne
Its not realyl a horror. Its about pets who make people's dreams who come true, but a secretly humans. It was great to me, I read it so many times, and each time made me love it more! Its not a comedy, so don't expect many laughs, but its worth reading regadless!

Horrifyingly Brilliant Aug 04, 2008 reviewed by Kitsu
Pet Shop of Horrors is one of the most insightfully terrific horror series I have ever seen. It's a little distracting in the long run with an arc focusing on the background of Count D and his family, but this small distraction doesn't take away from the overall series appeal. Whatever you're expecting from this series, you're wrong. It's well drawn and has even better underlying stories. Not only does it offer insight into human nature, it also highlights the way we interact with one another.
We follow police detective Leon as he struggles to come to terms with the mysterious Count D, the owner of a pet shop, whom he suspects of smuggling drugs. However, Count D promises that he only sells dreams. Initially, every person he sells animals to dies an odd death, only furthering Leon's suspicions that something is going on that the Count is hiding. However, over time, Leon and Count D come to a sort of truce and eventually, Leon unravels the mystery surrounding the Count and his pet shop of horrors.

Not the best Oct 17, 2008 reviewed by Bloody vampire (Pet Shop of Horrors Vol. 01)
I read part of it in the book store. It's not the best but it's readable. I plan on buying. Not any time soon, though.

LOVED IT! XD Dec 27, 2007 reviewed by |-Lavi-| (Pet Shop of Horrors Vol. 01- 10 Complete Manga Set)
It was a fun and exciting manga that did NOT do what you wanted it to do. *Sigh* Such a stubborn reading!!! However, it's worth the read. Don't let the genre fool you, it has comedy, romance (err, if you want to call it that ;]), blood & gore, the works. The theme is pretty cool too, and it's fun to look for hidden meanings (actually, it kinda glares at you...but anyway...). But what am I telling you for? Get the series!
