Great OEL! Jul 18, 2007
reviewed by Patat
This is the first OEL book I bothered buying. After being disappointed by releases from YaoiPress, I guess I didn't really expect much from this book. However, this book was extremely enjoyable. If anybody is wondering: this book does not glorify nazis!
Art: The style was very different from what I am used to, but it was fluid and expressive. I really liked that the artist drew the characters in distinctive ways. Most other artists give their characters that cookie-cutter look. This artist uses blacks well, which really pops out the characters and gives more life into the panels. It seems as though the artist was influenced more by american comics than manga.
Story: I really enjoyed the dialogue between the characters. It seemed real and let them take on a voice of their own. Their personalities were evident. As for the story, it was a real page-turner. It was very well paced and didn't stray from the plot. However, I did think it was a bit short. There were some points in the story where I would have enjoyed some background information, but I suppose it is unnecessary.
Overall: I recommend this book to anybody interested in a different flavor of BL.
