Well, a lot of violence.

See, as mentioned in the summery, the first two volumes deal with a strange girl who goes by the name of Tomie. There is a strange way about her that seduces men into loving her - to the point where they love her to death. Literally.

The basic concept is just that - the many ways in which Tomie dies at the hands of others. However, that's not to say she's the victim - indeed, in several of the chapters it seems that she is the one who encourages the violence. She also manipulates others into killing the clones of herself as she cannot stand knowing that there are others who share her beauty.

If you're into some light reading, and is intrigued by mystery, horror and not disturbed by violence, this is a good manga to have. Most chapters are short, so you don't have to worry about getting interrupted in the middle of a cliff-hanger. The plots aren't sacrificed by the length of each chapter; Junji Ito maintains a fairly solid and interesting variations which lasts throughout the volumes. As for the art, it's nothing extremely excellent - it reminds me a bit of Initial D, but slightly better.

All in all, a nice book to keep for company on a dark and stormy day.
