Model Synopsis: A Handsome Stranger with a Dark Secret ...
Jae is your typical struggling artist, studying in Europe and dreaming of a successful painting career. Typical, that is, until her friend drops off a rather inebriated -- though breathtakingly beautiful -- young man at her apartment one evening. That night, Jae dreams that the stranger visits her in her room ... and drinks her blood!
But was it really all just a dream? Could this handsome creature truly be a blood-thirsty vampire? And if Jae actually considers his ominous proposition, will she be entering into a deal with the devil?

this manga is pretty good, but i think the creators coulda put a little better of a story into it.It is a good story but it could use a little more twists and turns throughout the story line but over all it is a great manga.

Started Out Well... Jan 10, 2009 reviewed by SaraDiva
The series started out well, and I was especially optimistic about it because it had two things that interested me: an artist and a vampire. Vampires are cool and, as a naturally creative person, I like stories about artists and/or writers. So this was supposed to be great... Three books in, though, the entire thing collapsed. My sister and I read it and neither of us understand what happed after the third book. It was like they started the story over again from some brand new point that the third vaguely mentioned... or was it mentioned prior-to at all? See, I don't even know! I don't know what the problem one of the characters was having even was, either. I mean, things were bad (I guess), but, geez, what's her problem? What did she do, that was so dang horrible? (If you've read it, I'm not talking about Jae...) And further on the story seemed to jump around and I couldn't get a handle on who was talking (and sometimes the characters look too much alike to tell them apart, further confusing me). Also, it seems there is a random story set into the middle of the story but everything is quickly wrapped up and tossed out after that. And in the end, as you contemplate the entire series, you realize that some of the things mentioned about the characters just don't add up. Like, for one, the -vampire- who turned Michael. All those who have already read it, think about him and his -evolution- through the story for a minute and you'll see what I mean. This story confused me. Its stupid!!!! Either that or I am, which I am willing to accept if anyone can explain it to me, no more unanswered questions or dangling question marks. I simply finished reading the series to finish reading it. And to think it had started out so well...

Model Dec 17, 2008 reviewed by GraphicGirl
When i first read the description of this series, i assumed that the story would stereotypicaly follow the traditional story-line of other un-original ideas. As i read further into the books, not only did the beautiful art and quirky characters pull me into the story, but the mystery and origionality of the plot-line kept the pages turning. This series is considered darker than the norm and completely gripping with its gothic like characters and vampiristic history. The main characters are beautiful and artisticly displayed and the relationships between them are mysterious, compelling and utterly enchanting. The beginning may start at a slow pace, but once you delve further, this piece of art known a Model will entice your imagination and sense of wanting to find the last piece of the puzzle....

Beauty Hurts, Even For Vampires Jan 02, 2008 reviewed by DamageCtrl
Jae, a young woman and aspiring artist. She thinks she’s found her muse when her roommate brings home an beautiful, unconscious drunk, who turns out to be a vampire with a taste for fine art. Upon seeing Jae’s work, she is offered a place to stay at his estate in exchange for painting his portrait. What happens in that estate will both confuse you and make you gasp at the gorgeous artwork.
First, the artwork for Model is absolutely beautiful. It carries the right amount of ethereal beauty that makes the vampire Michael and the guests at his estate stand out as something definitely above normal. The story itself is kind of confusing at times. All the characters, aside from Jae, have a mysterious element to them and the curiosity that fills you is what makes you keep reading. Other than that, you don’t really feel for the characters, at least not until later in the series.
Overall, I found the story decent. It didn’t capture my attention, though the artwork was lovely. I didn’t really empathize with any of the characters for the first few books. However, when things start coming together, you start feel for them. The end is a bit vague and anti-climatic to me. Over all, 2.5 to 3 stars.

model Jul 08, 2007 reviewed by cookies and milk
this manga has a dark side to it which is reflected in the artistry. its about an artist trying to make her way in the world when she moves in with a vampire to draw him in exchange for her blood. there is a love trinagle between michael the vampire, herself and ken who also lives at the house. this is original as the artistry is so dark and unusual but amazingly done. this story promises to draw you into a whole other world entirely.
