Kiss and Explain Aug 28, 2007
reviewed by DamageCtrl
In Kohamaru’s family, they can exchange bodies with their soul mates. In order to change back, they must kiss. Sounds kind of romantic, right? What if your ‘soul mate’ was your cat or, in the case of Kohamaru, a girl you’ve literally run into who happens to be in love with your twin brother? And so the tangled web of confusion is woven...
As if growing up wasn’t hard enough in your own body, Kohamaru and Nanao switch bodies. They can only switch back if they kiss or with the kiss from Konatsu, Kohamaru’s twin brother who lacks the body switching ability and has some angst because of it. It takes a while to figure it out.
While the plot seems interesting, the first book is fast paced and somewhat confusing. Characters were all over the place; you were thrown off on who exactly the main character is. The peculiar family didn’t really help either. The characters seemed to lack some depth, but hopefully this will change in the on coming books.
I'd give this story 2.5 stars. I found “Metamo Kiss” to be confusing and at times, found myself growing somewhat irritated with the characters. Kohamaru is just too nice, his brother can be a jerk, and Nanao needs to stop blaming Kohamaru for everything.
Cute art work, decent characters, and interesting plot, but not the most straight forward or addicting manga.
