Funny, sweet, and with a little bit of spice Jul 05, 2007

Lover’s in the Night takes place around the time of the French Revolution. There's a young boy who is taken in by a rich aristocrat as a servant. The boy grows up and becomes head butler to the household, has to take care of the rich aristocrat's spoiled son after he passes away, and eventually becomes that spoiled son's lover. Even though the aristocrat's son is REALLY spoiled, the butler is mature and thinks of him as just young and naive. It may seem that the spoiled son is taking advantage of the butler, but the butler is really cunning and takes advantage of the spoiled son too. I absolutely love the butler, he seems almost evil sometimes, but he's sweet. There's actually a lot of wit and humor in this series and the character's personalities are well fleshed out. The French outfits and the aristocratic household are so well drawn too! There is sex that is mildy graphic, but not too much of it. Worth reading for anyone that likes boy's love, especially French period series.

Having read Antique Bakery I didn't think Yoshinaga had it in her to do something really raunchy but here it is!! And it has the perfect combination love, comedy, and *ahem* action. And as always the art is beautiful. Highly recommended!!
