Cute shonen-ai manga.. though slightly confusing... Jun 12, 2007 reviewed by Rainy
This is a very cute manga filled with cat ears and strange fighting/bondage games... When you first glance at it all you can see are pretty boys and cat ears... but when you get into the manga you will see all kinda of obsession, masochism, and pedophilia. That sounds kinda harsh, but when you mix it with such cuteness it becomes a very interesting and sometimes confusing story. It's not for everyone, but I really enjoy it!

Volume 5...Finally, the manga gets past the anime Jun 12, 2007 reviewed by Rainy
I've been waiting for this to happen. I want answers to all the crazy questions the anime left me with. Now, it looks like I'm going to start getting answers. It seems Seimei isn't the perfect brother that Ritsu makes him out be :O

Loveless - Murder, Mystery, and... Catboys? Jun 23, 2007 reviewed by SnarkyKatya
Loveless is a slightly mystical story about a boy who lost everything and gained something else in return.
Aoyagi Ritsuka is the new boy in school. Smart, quiet, and holding behind his back a very dark past that includes the murder of his brother and the loss of all his memories from before the age of 12. At the conclusion of his first day, he is greeted by a friend of his brothers, Agatsuma Soubi, who shares with Ritsuka the exact nature of his relationship with his brother Seimei. That of a paired unit, trained to fight with others of their kind.
Ritsuka then learns his true name. Loveless.
With hints of romance and a few stolen kisses, this series is sure to be a love of any shounen-ai fan. But it’s more than that, with an intricate plot that spans over its many volumes as Ritsuka tries to solve the mystery of his brother’s murder, with the presence of Soubi by his side.
Plus, it has catboys. How can you go wrong?

Loveless Jun 17, 2007 reviewed by pirates_and_manga
Loveless consists of children/adults who have cat ears and tails(some may argue them to be dog ears) until they lose there virginity. It is a captivating manga with great art work and exceptional story line. Unlike some manga which you can guess the exact storyline from the start this leaves me(personally) waiting with anticipation for the next volume. This mangaka also wrote Earthian I found this surprising as I couldn't see any similarity in artwork.

One of my favorites! May 09, 2008 reviewed by ChloeBlack101
Loveless is both one of my favorite animes (although the anime doesn't get nearly as in-depth as the manga) and mangas. Soubi is just gorgeous. The anime is beauitfully animated, and the manga is just awesome on every level. The storyline can be a little difficult to follow, but it's wonderful. Loveless is as intense as it is beautiful. It has a lot of darkness and darker themes, but also a lot of cuteness, and cat ears. And that's always a plus!
I LOVED the girl Zero's, I really wish they'd shown more of them. My one regret is that they only made 12 episodes, and it doesn't as of yet have a dub. I really hope they make more, because as awesome as the anime is, the manga goes into MUCH more detail. It's a definite must for anyone; I'd recommend it purely to gaze at Soubi alone ;)

Reviewless Jan 12, 2008 reviewed by deAth.to.A.dreAm
I love Loveless with a passion! It's a series, manga written by Yun Kouga, that will automatically pull you into the life of 12-year old Ritsuka. He is simply an adorable character, with a tail!, that I found myself cheering for every step of the way. You add in Soubi, Ritsuka's 20-year old friend, and a new combination of Soubi's subtle sexual shota desires towards Ritsuka and Ritsuka's denying nature of like and love produce a whole new partnership of wants, disaster, and memories.
Loveless is by far a far different shounen-ai story filled with many dark intentions. And I've yet to find a series like it. I really do recommend this one for anybody ready to read an in-depth mystery and cute, not to mention, witty story.

Star Volume Aug 29, 2010 reviewed by Miss MisaMisa (Loveless Vol. 06)
This particular volume is a very important book in the series as well as one that propels the storyline forwards. It builds up the story further with both Ritsuka and Soubi finding out or becoming curious about their personal worries and problems. Personally, I love the series altogether as well, it was my second yaoi series and close to one of my favorite series out of my whole collection.
I strongly recommend reading this volume and this series.

Loveless Review Aug 17, 2010 reviewed by Captain Kitty Claws
I am happy to say that the manga does go farther than the anime, which is a very good thing. The series hits it off wonderfully in the first volume, getting you hooked with the plot and story line of the main character Ritsuka. All the books keep you glued to the pages until you're finished reading and begging for more! One of my favorites of all time.

Humor, Romance, Angst, and a Great Start For Those Who Love Shounen-Ai! Oct 11, 2008 reviewed by Leslee
Whenever I visited the book store, I always saw this manga. I would only glance at it, because honestly? I liked the cover. [In fact, all of the covers are beautifully designed.] Later on, I discovered that Loveless was actually a great manga! I started with the anime, and after finishing that, I was dying for more.
Ritsuka Aayogi is a 12 year old boy, and wants to find out who killed his beloved older brother, Seimei. In this manga, virgins have cat ears and a tail, and you know that boys + cat ears = CUTENESS OVERLOAD.
You might think this is a boring mystery manga, but fear not! This is a SHOUNEN-AI manga, for all you boyxboy fans out there. Also, it is does not contain any hardcore yaoi [at least, not yet], but it bursting with sweet moments that will make you blush and say, Awwww! Not only that, but Loveless is very humorous! Do you need to see some drama? Well, there is. Angst? You got it. All of the characters are easy to fall in love with as well, especially Ritsuka. He is simply adorable.
Loveless is a very unique manga. If you are curious about shounen-ai [boy's love] and want to start reading shounen-ai manga, Loveless is the perfect manga to begin with. I advise you to either watch the anime [however, it is incomplete] or read the first two volumes. This way, you'll understand the concept of the story [it is not difficult] and trust me, you will get hooked!
I'm sure you will enjoy Loveless! *^^*

Different but good Jul 29, 2008 reviewed by drew
My friends are true yaoi lovers and they thought it would be funny to make me read this series. Honestly it is not half bad I did get a little grossed out by the scenes of guy on guy situations but other than that the plot is not to bad and I thought is was pretty good. I am however dissapointed the manga is not finished yet.

What...? Mar 14, 2008 reviewed by D-N- (Loveless Vol. 01)
This volume starts out introducing the main character...and then seems to lose itself in the 'suspense' that comes after. In one whole volume, we don't even get any straight answers about what the plot is. Then somehow magical abilities are brought into it and they get even more confusing. The cat-ears and cat parts of the people seem to be just a way of labeling who's a virgin or not, which is just silly. We never learn how the cat-ears/tail go away after the person has sex, instead, the author focuses more on the main character. After reading this first volume, I didn't feel like reading another...ever. I have no clue why this is so loved by my friends, because there is no logic to the entire story. Don't buy this, there's better manga to buy.

Loveless Vol. 05 Jun 03, 2007 reviewed by midori318 (Loveless Vol. 05)
Ritsuka thinks he's finally found the one's who can give him the answers he seeks, if only they were willing to help Ritsuka instead of confusing him. And finally Ritsuka's not so subtle secret has been exposed when Soubi defies his orders and follows Ritsuka to his house...where his disturbed mother awaits his return.
