Nothing Says Love Like Fist Fighting Jan 02, 2008 reviewed by DamageCtrl
Chiemi is a good girl with a good heart and a habit of getting into fights at school. She’s still in her first year of high school and she’s on the verge of getting suspected, so when her teacher offers to wipe her record clean if she gets the worst fighter in the school, Hirata, to clean up his act, she jumps at the chance. Literally jumping out, punching him, and telling him to go to class before running off terrified that she's on his kill list or something. You’d think that the guy with the worst rep in the school would demand retribution. Instead, when he comes to class the next day, he asks her out. Hilarity and awkward romance ensues.
If you’re tired of manga with the usual school girl just struggling through her turbulent high school years and youthful romances and a heap of needless angst, “Love Attack” will be a breath of fresh air. The two aren’t the idea of high school students, and at first, Chiemi isn’t at all interested in Hirata. She actually gives him a chance once she sees a bit of his good side and neither pines silently for the other. She openly confronts him and he her when the other does something they dislike. No hiding away and angsting for endless chapters. What I liked best was that despite hooking up, that didn’t detour them from beating up people who picked on others or each other. They basically remained the same and the other accepts it. Even expects it.
The characters were interesting; the kind of people you’d like to be friends with if you were in high school. Their friendships with their friends are easy to understand and affiliate with, and their relationship with each other is not painfully and needlessly dramatic, but charming. Not your typical love story, but not too far fetched either. I’d definitely recommend this if you’d like a good read with plenty of humor and just the right amount of endearing moments.

A new favorite!!! Funny and sweet!!! Dec 27, 2007 reviewed by cbee
I liked Girl Got Game so was sorta interested in this series and am so glad I picked it up! The artwork is cleaner than previous series and the plot flows so well! The dialogues are hilarious and the story swings from action to hilarious comedy to sweetness flawlessly. The visual gags are the strong point though. One of my favorite panels shows their poor classmates huddled in the classroom shivering, all with huge raccoon eyes (lovebirds had a fight) and cowering under desks and books from the demon couple. Vol. 1 is loaded with such and my sides still hurt! It's also nice that it has many really strong characters in it! A highly recommended treat! I can't wait for the next one!!!

A subject never tackled before Mar 20, 2008 reviewed by Spirit Archer
I'm a sucker for the shojoiest mangas, and when I picked up Love Attack I fell in love. First off, the main character is slightly different to your normal shojo heroine. Chiemi is nice, friendly, but will kick your backside if you do something to get her angry. The regular sort of 'rebel' girl, but there's a twist!
Within the story, Chiemi is nearing the danger point of getting expelled. Fearful of this news, she takes up the task of trying to get Hirata to stop his acts of ditching school and beating other students up and ends up flying through a window and kicking him in the face demanding he stop! Hirata comes to Chiemi and she is afraid he will attack her, even though she's a girl. Instead of that, it's totally the opposite. He asks her out!
Aside from the random mishaps (getting ganged up on as a couple-- then enjoying victory as a couple, mistaking what one says for something else, ect.) it is a hilarious story. At one point of the story, the couple have become angered at one another over an issue at school, a simple couple argument. Everyone goes through that, right? These two are different! When the next scene is viewed, their entire class is cowering in fear under buckets, desks, home-made shields, ect! Once their teacher asks why it smells like impending doom in the class, a student explains that the couple are arguing and everyone is in fear of their life!
It is a fantastic series that would be a wonderful addition to any Shojo collectors library. It will make you laugh and most certainly get you out of the normal 'Good-Girl' mangas.
