A Good Taste of CLAMP Dec 13, 2008
reviewed by Keru
An older work from CLAMP, The Legend of Chun Hyang features their classic, beautiful art. Chun Hyang is a far cry from a damsel in distress and appeals to the violent side in me. (We all have one.) The other big player, Mong Ryong, reminds me a little or Pokemon's Brock, Inuyasha's Miroku, and Naruto's Jiraiya rolled into one. Kind of your typical violent girl continuously hits perverted boy, but I find it entertaining.
If I have one big complaint with this book, it's the shortness. Passing comments left room for the story to expand beyond the horizon, but at least the one volume length keeps it affordable.
This title would definitely fall in the girl power category and it's not heavy on romance, but I can see shoujo and shounen fans enjoying the mix of snappy dialogue and martial arts.
Um, fair warning: a few uses of mild language and a bathing scene, though nothing explicit.
Keru also recommended: Shirahime-Syo, Angelic Layer, Her Majesty's Dog, Yurara, Legend, Magic Knight Rayearth,
