She loves me…she loves me…NOT!? Jul 25, 2007

Once upon a time, an old witch found a little human girl...and was going to eat her. However, she was stopped by the Great King of Darkness, who named the child Misty Rain and ordered the witch to take care of her. As the child grew up, she was disguised as a two horned dobeki residing in the Great King’s kingdom. The old witch grew to love the child like a granddaughter; never telling her that she was really human. Then, when a white lie of Misty Rain’s is revealed by the young and adventuring Prince Sirius of the Unicorn Kingdom, the spell that disguises her breaks, her human self is revealed, and she is sent back to the human world.
In this fairy tale, the search for one’s identity comes to light as Misty Rain struggles to find out who she really is and what the images she remembers mean. While all this is happen, a lovelorn Prince Sirius seeks her out; only to be rejected over and over. The elegant artwork of the story draws the reader in and embellishes the fantastical backgrounds of the Dobeki and Unicorn Kingdoms. The emotions of the characters are easily felt thanks to the art style. While the story is somewhat slow moving, the reader becomes engrossed in answering the assorted mysteries that Misty Rain and Sirius are faced with. Bits of humor lace the story, giving the reader a break from the drama that hits hard when it comes. This is a deeper than average story; with smaller stories woven tightly alongside the main plot; sometimes out of no where. As it progresses, the story becomes more and more intriguing as new threats appear on the horizon. If you are patient and want to enjoy an above average fairy tale, you should give this one a try.
