Kendo, a few kisses, poor character development and realism Jul 07, 2008
reviewed by Hestia
Two sets of brothers, all gay, all into kendo, are the four main characters. There is this mysterious absence of any tension whatsoever about their being gay--no one harasses them for being gay, they have no doubts or angst about their gayness. They are all basically nice, pretty, talented guys. There are quite a few kendo scenes that are extremely hard to follow. One character kicks butt in kendo but is shy and tears up and gets beaten up at school, which doesn't quite make sense to me. However, that character does develop and mature nicely. The lead lovers are very pretty, and there are some interesting backgrounds: water, fireworks, and a starry night with the milky way very clear in the sky. The ending is a bit too abrupt for my taste. Basically it's ok yaoi, nothing memorable unless you are into kendo or you are a yaoi fan that objects to explicit language or graphic scenes (cause there aren't any of either).
