Great series by a great artist! Jul 05, 2007 reviewed by AnimeG0ddess
Yoshinaga-sensei once again impresses me. In this series, the main couple are law students. I love how you see the characters grow from being in law school to becoming older with real jobs and dealing with their relationship as time passes. It's a wonderful series and, as with all of Yoshinaga-sensei's work, involves great story-telling, comedy, and character development. The characters really love each other. There are some series in which there is just a lot of sex for no reason, but in this series, you can feel that it's because they're lovers. There's a lot more sex scenes in the second volume than the first. Another thing I've noticed with Yoshinaga-sensei is that she really studies what she writes about. In this series, there is a lot of serious law terms and aspects from life as a student. It's refreshing to read a series that's a little more realistic than your everyday fluff. If you like boy's love, than this is a must have!

Ichigenme is an excellent college yaoi, featuring an original plot with humor and angst. It's moving, sexy, and often funny. Aug 31, 2007 reviewed by Hestia
I'm not sure why The Sky Over My Spectacles is in with Ichigenme Vol 1 and 2 (complete series in two volumes). The Sky Over My Spectacles is a series of very loosely related stories of three brothers. The lead story is a classic high school story. Another tale is a business men's love story. These are fairly traditional yaoi stories, cute, and romantic. I'd give that volume a 4. Ichigenme, is a 5, however. There is some real angst here--families that don't approve of homosexuality; there are three sexual relationships in which one partner is used or mistreated, one mental breakdown, and one scene involving drugs. The pressures of law school, and the advantages of wealth and prestige are explored. The difficulty some gay men have with talking about love and accepting their sexuality is also a theme. The sex is tripled or quadrupled in vol. 2, but it is part of the story. A second set of characters in vol. 2 also find love like the two lead characters.
