its all about the extreme characters Jun 24, 2008
reviewed by dreamlogicc
as the title might suggest, this one is about otaku culture and living. Specifically, it begins with the 'otaku comming out' of the main character, and then leaps from one trademark otaku characteristic to another. Maid cafes, cross dressing, moe, yaoi, they're all here and pushed to comical extremes. This one has some great extreme character variations as well (see page 63 of volume 2 for my personal favorite).
The characters are juust starting to be really fleshed out in volume two. It was kind of rough for the first few chapters of the first volume, but two volumes in, its looking to be a seminal series.

A Great Manga for Any Fan Jan 30, 2008
reviewed by Demoni (I, Otaku Vol. 01: Struggle in Akihabara)
This manga is a fun story about a guy named Sota who just happens to be a closet otaku. It follows the unusual circumstances surrounding him, set in the real world, and continues to develop the characters. They touch on many different types of otaku, mainly following the anime/manga otaku, who is the main character. A must for anyone who's more into the anime scene, and enjoys cosplay, conventions, or just fandom in general.
Demoni also recommended: Otaku no Video, Megatokyo, Ranma 1/2, Slayers,
