After reading a few volumes of Hoshin Engi I am not completely satisfied. I would like to see more humor in these books, but thats just me. These books are mostly action oriented and I think this series targets younger teens. Overall it is a decent series.

This manga is very, very good, the art is amazing, the battles are pretty cool, every character is different from each other and do have good character development, the story is surprising, and the humor is very funny and even breaks the 4th!

With this said, you must already know my opinion of Hoshin Engi, a very enjoyable manga, the only con (Which isn´t a con by itself) is that since the story is based on a Chinese Novel (just like Dragon Ball) it has many terms that might not be so easily understood for the common reader, but I think Viz will make it easier to understand and might even add side notes or something like that.
