Gender Bending May 30, 2007 reviewed by Tuttle
This is a great gender bending manga. The main character Mizuki is so focused on her goal to meet Izumi Sano that she cuts her hair and flys all the way to Japan and enrolls into an all boys school! Every day she risks being caught and is soon found out by the school's doctor. Secrets and love abound in this manga. It is indeed a nail biter.

YAY!~ Jun 11, 2007 reviewed by frogprincess666
WELL! There are 23 volumes in total!! So, be prepared to be sucked into at least a whole week of awesomeness!!! I LOVED IT!!! What I found at the end was that you could keep dreaming on what the main characters' lives could be like after the series *sigh* It's just awesome, a great read! Loved it right from the start of the whole series, although in between the main storyline, there are a few bonus stories which explain the lives/history of the other less important characters. All the dudes, if not all, are absolutely DIVINE~!!! *^^* They are very very hawt, and the main girl looks very cute too, I really enjoyed that aspect of the manga too~! I thought that the ending could have been extended but I guess it's already long anyway... *shurgs*

Love Hana Kimi!!! Jun 02, 2007 reviewed by honeypeaches
Hana Kimi is the best manga I've ever read! I love the romance and all the laughs along the way. Mizuki is a great character with plenty of depth. The story is very good and the animation is unparalleled. I've never seen such intense and yet realistic animation of characters in my life. I enjoyed every moment of it.

I love this manga!!! I know you'll love it too! May 29, 2007 reviewed by Ty-chan
I could just roll over and die every time I read Hana Kimi. While reading this manga I have laughed, cried, and clutched my chest as my heart went doki, doki. The relationship between Sano and Mizuki is amazing, especially how it develops along with the story. This is one of my all time favorites. I recommend everyone give it a chance. For those who think this might be just another Sports shojo, trust me, it is not. It goes on for a large number of volumes, so if you aren't prepared to drop a large sum on a ton of manga you might want to try to borrow it to see if you are interested first. However, I highly recommend this be added to any decent manga collection.

Witfully hilarious Jul 14, 2007 reviewed by Tori
This series has had me laughing from book one. Not only is it funny, but the reader sympathizes with Mizuki's... unique type of awkward love situations. The twists are never ending and the characters develop before your very eyes. A must read for almost all manga fans!

The Knee-Slapping Kick Off to a Great Series Jun 22, 2007 reviewed by Madison (Hana Kimi Vol. 01)
The new kid is the prettiest boy in the school... but she ISN'T a boy at all. Mizuki is a young lady with a bit of an obsession. She transfers from the US all the way to Japan to attend Osaka Private High School. But this is any ordinary high school... it's an ALL boys school. but she didnt come to Japan just for the sight seeing and the great food (^.^) she came see to her idol. His name is Izumi Sano and he is a record stting high jumper. Through this roller coaster ride of a first book she conceals her identity, or so she thinks. (Sorry guys you got to read who *well there is really 2 people* find out she is actually a girl)

Frustratingly fun Jun 09, 2007 reviewed by Nytingale
This series is a lot of fun and there are touching moments as well as amusing moments but chances are, if you actually pay attention to plot, the sheer lack of progress from about book 3 on will frustrate you. The writer manages to keep it interesting though despite the sheer lack of actual progress in the plot and it's definitely worth reading as you become somewhat fond of the characters, typical as they are. No series is perfect and this one has it's flaws but it's still a ton of fun to read and comes highly recommended.

Such a good story! Jun 19, 2008 reviewed by amusmental (Julie)
I really liked Hana Kimi! there were maybe TWO things that bugged me. The first one was the concept that she kind of decided I like this guy cause I've seen him jump on tv. I think I'm gonna stalk him to his country. She could have written to him and said she was a fan and would like to meet him, maybe try jumping with him. No. Instead, she stalks him to his country and pretends to be a boy to be close to him. It's just plain creepy. O.o The second thing was the way it ended. Just kind of...did. (Don't worry, no spoilers). I mean, it wasn't a bad ending or anything, it just didn't seem like there was that much consequence or closure. Eh. Oh well. All that aside...the story ended up being really cute. Really charismatic characters (my favorite will always be the doctor, Hokuto!) and a cute mascot (Yujiro the dog) and a fun storyline to keep up with. It held my attention though 23 volumes! I really think it's worth a read.

For You In Full Blossom Apr 15, 2008 reviewed by Luvs Gals!
The cutest guy in school isn't really a guy! Mizuki Ashiya is a half Japanese girl who admires Izumi Sano (a high jump champion) so much, she even sneaks into his all-boys school!
I really loved this series. I usually only read short manga but this was an exception. I great romance that anyone will love.

Hana-Kimi FTW! Apr 01, 2008 reviewed by Azalie Uzumaki
Hana-Kimi is about a young girl traveling to Japan from California to meet her idol, soon to be love interest, Sano Izumi.
I currently have up to volume 23 of the series and I wouldn't give them up for anything. Hana-Kimi is whitty and will have you gripped from the first chapter. For me, Hana-Kimi makes me anxious to see what happens to a point where I was obsessive with it for a time. >3< Hana-Kimi is one of the best shojo manga I have ever read and I highly recommend it for any shojo lover.

One thing that people seem to dislike... Mar 14, 2008 reviewed by D-N-
One thing that I've seen many people dislike about this series is how, after Mizuki meets Sano, she doesn't pursue her love for him for what seems like an endless amount of time. I think this is one way in which the series is realistic. Mizuki took the jump from traveling to another country as well as pretend to be a boy. It isn't always easy to confess love, especially in that situation, and some readers need to remember that.
The one thing I disliked about this manga is how America/Americans are portrayed. One volume has a side note saying that most tests in America are open-notebook. Another volume has an American coming to visit the main character and suddenly learning Japanese, then using it to butt her nose into everything she can. There are more examples, but those are the ones off the top of my head. Still, if you ignore those small slights, the series is immensely enjoyable. I recommend it.

Wonderful. Feb 16, 2008 reviewed by crazy_jen16
Ah, what can I say about Hana-kimi? It's a really wonderful story, though I am not a Yaoi Fan, the doctor being Gay makes some things very laughable. Have you ever read a book and not been able to remember the characters names unless you re-red it? Well, with this series, I never had that problem. I haven't read very far in this series but I love it and look forward to being able to read them all! To sum it up.. It's a Good laugh and lovable characters.

very long series Aug 05, 2007 reviewed by Natalie
Hana Kimi has some lovely art work, but the story could use some paring down. It starts out pretty strong and falls into a length of small happenings that seem to serve just to extend it without really enhancing anything. The end is good though, but I might say you can skip to it when you get bored in the middle.

Want laughs and Romance? Well this is for YOU! Aug 17, 2010 reviewed by Panda
Ever since I read a review on it in 2005, I hunted this book down!! I wanted to read it so bad! When I found it, it was the most awesome day ever!! Anyhow, this manga will make you laugh a lot. Hisaya Nakajo's art is so great and they way she has the characters express themselves is just so amazing. The characters are very memorable and story line is very good! This was my very first manga that I have ever purchased (back in 2006). So, if looking for one...this is one is a great start off manga. Enjoy!

Hana kimi Feb 18, 2009 reviewed by Lucy Cullen
Hana Kimi is one of my favourite mangas. Its about a girl called Mizuki who has come to Japan, from America, to enroll in a new highschool so she can meet her hero. But its an all boys school. So she must disguise herself as a boy, or be expelled. It sounds like anyold Gender-Bender,romance mangas. But this one as it is longer than most, you get to know more about the characters, their relationships arent rushed and you can basically sit back, relax and ge sucked it to the world of Hana kimi. Its not all drama either like some romance mangas, its also got a comedy side to it, which stops it from being too depressing ^__^ I highly recommend
