Only One Story Was Worth It. Dec 06, 2007
reviewed by Obsessed
This work features 3 short stories.
The first work involves the old love affair between a boy and girl who seemed to be locked by fate. Their blood acts like acid to all others - only they can touch each other. This story has potential. It should have been longer and more drawn out in order to really grasp the plot and explore the secondary characters further. At the same time the plot is overdone and predictiable. Due to the length, the story becomes a bit of a disappointment and manages to be ok.
The third work involves a girl who acts as a body double for the first girl. This work had the potential to be an interesting yuri work, but once again was left unexplored. The end result is a work the requires a few rereadings to understand due to a disjointed story.
The second work entitled FIREFLY was wonderful. I would love to see this become a full length work, but will have to be satisified with just a chapter. Despite its short length, the story's impact is amazing. It is the only work in this collection that is worth rereading. It involves a boy who is a demon and has difficulty with his demon heritage. While it had the potential to be predictiable and overdone it isn't.
The art is a mix of gothic and shojo. The character's fingers and toes seem too long to be real. The bodies are rather thin and unrealistic as well. The artwork makes up for itself with highly detailed clothing and backgrounds.
Overall, it is expensive to pay full price for one work, but Firefly is worth it (5 stars). I rated this 3 because of the other two works.
