I like Disgaea 2 better than the first one. This series is hilarious. I've never played the actual video game, but you really don't need to in order to enjoy this manga.

A Review of Disgaea and Disgaea 2 V. 1&2 Jul 30, 2007

The differences between Disgaea and Disgaea 2 are very obvious. Disgaea 2 is very funny and very random and his style looks like what Takehito Harada would be making if he was drawing manga. Shindo's somewhat too mature looking, and substituted a very important story arc from the video game with one that he wrote for the manga. Hekaton's Disgaea 2 Vol. 1 is nice because it tells a story that bridges the two games, which if you're familiar with the characters is very believable. Volume 2 is a bit too random in the beginning and in the end of the Bonus manga for my tastes, but enjoyable nonetheless. So, if you're like me and a huge Disgaea fan, buy both, but if you're a more casual fan skip the first and go to Disgaea 2.

It's awesome and everyone should read it. I read one book, and now I am comepletely hooked. More people should read about Laharl and his buddies bazzare adventures. Adell, too!

Very much like the game, the story follows the game but with a few changes to fit into the manga. Yes, its only one volume but it flows well as it introduce the characters and the humor that is Disgaea. If you enjoyed the game, you will see some of the humor, but it was kinda short. The comedy is what made the Disgaea series famous in the RPG realm of video games, which is also seen in the manga. Its a good quick read and is a quick summary of the game with a few changes. ^_^
