Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Girl used to BE a boy.
Confused yet?
Welcome to the world of Cheeky Angel, probably one of the funniest series to hit the market since… Ever. It makes me laugh, it makes me cry. But mostly, I laugh.
The characters are far from conventional or boring. In fact, they’re probably among the best ensemble cast I’ve ever read of.
One day, Megumi, our fearless hero(ine), mistakenly ticks off the wrong being and gets himself turned into a girl. The main storyline takes place six years later as she and her best friend Miki begin high school, all while searching for the magic book that will turn her back into a him. Along the way they meet and gain a colorful cast of admirers, ranging from the furious Genzo, who turns to mush at the sight of his beloved, to plain, average Ichiro. Added in with the perverted Yasuda and samurai-in-training Hitomoji, it makes for one heck of a contrast in personalities.
The art is slightly under par, more rough than someone might be used to coming from this type of story, but don’t let it turn you off. This storyline is beyond phenomenal, and I really recommend it for anyone looking for a good laugh.
