Talented Kiri is unwilling to follow her parents' dream for her and become a famous hairstylist; though she possesses every needed skill to do so. Instead, she uses her talent to do a little 'magic' on those who need it and are rejected by the famous 'Scissors Project'; run by three of the schools most handsome boys. In a somehow mixed up situation, Kiri ends up teaming with the boys to battle a rival; while at the same time keeping her identity a secret and taking on the alias of 'X'

Will Kiri ever use her talents to become a famous stylist, or will she continue to help girls become beautiful behind the scenes?

A light, cute comedy for all ages. Hair’s not my thing, but the characters dragged me in and wouldn’t let go. The story never takes itself too seriously, and laughter is expected. Parental note: Infrequent coarse language.

(Beauty Pop Vol. 05)

Ochiai Kazuhiko makes the SP club official, by enlisting Kiri and crew (without their consent), and opens the Scissors Project to the public via the internet. Also, we learn about the past history between Kiri's dad Seiji and Narumi's dad; meet Narumi's semi-narcissistic little sis; watch the love triangle between Ochiai, Kiri and Aoyama intensify; and see the reveal of Narumi's childhood rival's identity (which shouldn't be a surprise, if you've been paying any attention).

Beauty Pop continues to be an enjoyable, fast read- if not particularly creative and undetailed in the specifics of hairstyling. Sometimes the pratfalls-sort of comedy is drawn comfusingly, but otherwise I'd call the artwork perfectly stylized and clear.

My favorite part of this volume would be the glimpses into the refreshingly stoic Kiri: her admiration for her dad and her loyalty to Aoyama. And we're not alone- Narumi is starting to finally see his rival humanly (perhaps as expected, through finally finding a perceived weakness). Though I doubt romance is in the works any time soon for these two (and I'm not even sure I want it to), I'm definitely hoping they figure out soon how much they can teach each other! Narumi could definitely learn something about the true nature of beauty and sportsmanship/ good will- and Kiri could rediscover the passion in hairstyling (I'm guessing the drawing is a lost cause). So here's to new complete SP!

Well, i personally, like the clean art style of this book, the hair isnt messy, and isn't too plain! The story plot seems like it will get good! ^^ Well i will stick with it until the end! Just be prepared for a rather slow beggining! If your gonna buy this book! >.< I LUV KIRI'S HAIR!! xD

Kiri was gifted with talent. She was the best at cutting hair like pro but didn't want a life with it.She hid her talent.At kiri's school,there were three boys who created a club called the Scissors Project,and who were talented also,they made girls pretty.Made to compete in a 'battle',will kiri win and make yorozuya-san beautifull.....and let the world know her secret?

As the battle continues Kiri,talented and marked and known as the mysterious 'X is facing against Narumi.It reaches near the end of the match.....and both know whoever loses will receive a haircut of whatever the winner chooses...........So who and what kind of hairstyle? Will yorozuya-san be transformed?Find out..........hurry! You will be shocked!!!
