Battle Royale Synopsis: In the future, random Jr. High School classes are chosen to compete in a game called Battle Royale. The rules: only one student can survive after 3 days on an island or else they all perish. Weapons are handed out and each student is sent out into the field alone and unprepared for the horror that awaits them. The classmates turn upon themselves in a battle for survival, treaties are made and broken, and former friends become foes as the relentless countdown continues. Amid the betrayals and rising body count, two classmates confess their love for each other and swear to survive this deadly game together.

When I first heard about the manga I thought, Okay...so a class just battles each other 'til only one dies. Like one of those movies based off a action video game, right? Nothing special.
...Boy was I wrong! The art is AMAZING! So much detail and...just WOW! You can almost feel the wounds and hear the gunshots and blood squirts. I forgot I was reading and just imagined everything happening in my mind like a movie. It just trapped me from the start and I couldn't stop reading it until I was done because the story was so much deeper than I assumed it would be. Each character is so brilliantly developed that you really get to know each of them and even sympathize for them, especially the villains. There's surprises, action, romance, and TONS of gore. Wonderful action scenes that have you gasping with your eyes wide open and holding your breath. Just go read it!
Pretty mature though, so not recommended for kids or sensitive readers.

If you are looking for a good manga to pick up and read that has outstanding action, great story, and lots of emotion then this manga is definently for you. Some people critisize it for its very gory and violent artwork but i think it complements the story well. You should definently check this out.

Highly recommended series,if your a fan of the film youll love this.It goes much deeper than the film and is very nicely drawn.The characters are very well thought out and im sure youll enjoy this as much as i did A+++++++++

This is The best book i've ever read. I can honestly say this. Even Stephen King liked the book. The story is amazing, and it takes the time to give depth to most of the 42 students. The book is 600 pages long, but i started it and i got hooked and read it in one night. The descriptions of the deaths are vivid and at some points you'll find yourself with your hand over your mouth, either in shock or about to throw up. The book is also very sad, and if you get too attatched to a character you might cry when they die. Something you read more than once, i promise you that.

Well, when I first started this series out I didn't think it was for me. It is pretty graphic and seems, at first, like it is just another gore-fest of a series. I was terribly wrong. This series on the outside is simply a game that you are watching, but what it really comes down to is the characters.
The characters are all significant in this series. You'll see them endure this cruel game and feel for them. You'll learn their pasts and realize just how frightening this experience is for each one of them and what drives them to make their decisions. I'd say the characters make this series, the concept is very interesting and the story is good as well, but it really is the characters that you'll end up reading this for. Towards the end you'll even start to sympathize with those that seem to be corrupt, it is just that good at portraying them.
Anyone with a weak stomach might be warned as the series can be pretty graphic at times, but please do not let that put you off. It is so much more than that.
