Move Over Naruto Jun 15, 2007

The ninjas in this series have really crazy powers, and their fights are intense. There's a lot of suspense about which clan will ultimately win, and each ninja's power is kept a mystery until it's revealed in a fight. The artwork is amazing and Del Rey went the extra mile with quality paper and covers. The mature rating is definitely appropriate. It’s worth the higher price.

i think this is one of the most active plots you will ever see. i started out a little confused but it all came togather and made sence before the end. there is a lot of death in this anime but mixed in all the violence is a love story that touched my heart. i beleave everyone needs to watch this anime but as for me watching wasn't enough i had to own it.

I am always appealed to anime/manga that has a historical touch to it. You must agree with me that the Basilisk author did his homework. Nonetheless, this is not your typical SLASH & KAPOWWW story with all super cool dudes, aka. ninjas, and the remaining feeling that you wanna become one too. Nah, it is the ninja Romeo et Juliet version of some kind. I do not want to get in to it that much because then I would ruin the plot and I do not want to be the antagonist of the manga eh! However, even though there is a few points that I dislike about this show there is still enough magic left within the deepest core of the story that leaves me chained to the monitor. Cruelty is not left out at all and at time it can be rather sickening, but then we have the lovely ladies that persuade my eyes once again. Overall, much of action, lots of history, love, and the enemy. I recommend this if you like some bloody and ecchi (hentai) version of Inu Yasha

It’s like a ninja Romeo and Juliet, but BETTER. Jul 25, 2007

Years ago, seeking to bring peace between two of the deadliest rival ninja clans in Japan, a truce was created. Now, Iga Clan’s Oboro and the Kouga Clan’s Gennosuke have fallen in love and plan to finalize the truce by getting married. However, 400 years of hate are not so easily forgotten by other members of their clans. Under the order of the Shogun, in order to decide who the next Tokugawa Shogun will be, the Iga and Kouga’s truce has dissolved. Each clan is assigned a shogun. Ten ninja from each clan will fight to the death. Which clan survives will ultimately decide the fate of the next Shogun. And that is only the backdrop. Caught between their love for each other and their loyalty to their clans, Oboro and Gennosuke struggle to find a way to bring peace and be with each other. Despite their wishes, every clan member is against them; eager to take down their rivals once and for all.
With each ninja featuring spectacular powers and skills, and dark, detailed art work; every fight is gloriously depicted in this classic ninja tale. Despite the more expensive price tag, the manga is definitely worth it, as quality and size are above average. It is marked for a more mature audience, as some nudity and graphic violence abound throughout the manga; this is something not for the squeamish. But for those who want to read an intense tale of star-crossed lovers pitted against each other in a deadly battle, highlighted with action laced artwork and an addicting story line, and daring enough to take the bloodly violence, “Basilisk” is a must.
