Say What? Jun 07, 2007 reviewed by MangaTeach
The artwork of this series is outstanding; however, if you are of a religious nature, this manga will not sit well with you. All angels and god are insane – yea, somehow they are and btw it is okay to want to sleep with your sister. If you can get beyond all the ways the writer seems to pour venom out on to the religious structures of heaven and earth, it is a fairly interesting read. I would not recommend it for younger folk.

Between Angels and Demons Oct 25, 2007 reviewed by TheReviewer (Angel Sanctuary Vol. 01)
The drawings are absolutely stunning. If the reader is looking for an eye-pleasing manga, this would be it. From the eyes to the costumes, it is beautifully decorated and ornate.
While the story starts off with a bang and names are being thrown left-to-right, leaving the reader confused, the complex story starts off with the main character, Setsuna, and his sister, Sara. Their relationship may leave the reader feeling queasy, but it is a major element to the story that the characters must come to terms with. It is this humanity in the characters that allow readers to sympathize with and relate to.
However, ignoring religious aspects, the creator attempts to draw on the fact that angels are not so angelic, but rather more human and demonic. Seems like a oxymoron, but this perspective is attractive and claims attention.
Overall, it is a beautiful manga, and while it gets a bit gory, there's a remarkable story beginning, which will leave the audience wanting to read more (if they can understand who is who).

Simply Beautiful Oct 23, 2007 reviewed by SetsuMudo (Angel Sanctuary: Angel Cage, Art of)
Kaori Yuki's Angel Sanctuary is one of the most beautifully done Manga/Anime series I have ever seen. Angel Cage is a collection of some of the most beautiful pictures of characters from the series. Included with the multiple pages of her beautiful work, there is also in-depth information on the characters and settings. This is a must own for any fan of the series or just an art enthusiast!

You'll never put it down. Jul 30, 2007 reviewed by sads
This is my all-time favorite manga series. The artwork alone would have been enough for me to buy this manga. I mean who doesn't want to see a lot of hot guys? Actually, it's a very gripping & dramtaic story. I can't tell you how many times I cried tears of joy & sadness. xD Ms. Yuki really created a very dark & controversial world. She was not trying to portray real Angels or show what Heaven & Hell are really like. It's actually a beautiful story about not so beautiful characters. Angels are bad? Demons are good? ...it raises some questions. Just accept this manga for what it is & you'll love it!

Must read!!! Jun 17, 2007 reviewed by Re-Elu
Angel Sanctuary starts with the forbidden love a teenage boy has for his younger sister. This might bust your bubble, but don't let it stop you from reading this great series! The story evolves from a forbidden love to a complex fantasy in a fast pace. As the story progresses, you forget that the two are actually siblings. Kaori Yuki's art is beautiful and the many characters she created for this story all have a complex history which shaped them into the person/angel/demon that they are now. The story is complex, very well constructed, makes you crave for more and sometimes even brings a tear to your eyes.

If you like Philip Pullman Jun 13, 2007 reviewed by DalilaMoon21
The art is one of the best I've seen. Not for young readers and religious people. The only thing that I didnt like is the incest. But every character is so unique and they all have a backstory that it makes you want to read as much as you can before your eyes hurt.

How far would you go for love? Jan 24, 2009 reviewed by Hotaru Mimiuchi
A very beautiful (yet at times very complex) story of love and sacrifice. Despite the fact that it's very religious, I found it really enjoyable. Setsuna goes through Heaven and Hell to save the woman he loves. He gives up everything just for her. I cried at times, and cheered too. By the end of all 20 manga, I was very thrilled to have finally gotten to read it. Angel Sanctuary was probably the one manga I wanted to read more than any other, and I was not disappointed. The artwork is wonderful, it has a certain amount of romantic feel to it. I've always liked Kaori Yuki's art but Angel Sanctuary is probably the one I like most.
This is a must read for any manga reader.

I Want To Read It! Jan 19, 2009 reviewed by Miranda
My friend told me that this manga was very good, and her description of it made me want to read it more. The art style isn't to great in my oppinion, but I'm hoping the story would be great. I'm really excited and looking forward to reading this story. I think most other people would like it too! ^-^
