A more merry view of The World Mar 20, 2008 reviewed by Spirit Archer (.Hack//Legend of the Twilight Vol. 01)
The Legend of the Dot Hackers, Azure Kite and Black Rose.
At least that's what they're playing. Rena (Black Rose) won the legendary avatars of AK and BR and now her and her brother, Shugo, play in The World. Trying hard to get the hang of things, both players are transported to a Level 1 playing field in which they try to level up (but ultimately fail! Shugo can't even defeat a cat!). While they're resting, a level 40 Golem appears out of no where in the beginners field. In a heroic act, Shugo flings himself before Rena and takes the attack for her, ending his players life. One would think it's back to the Resurrection area, town or even login page, but no! Shugo ends up meeting Aura and is given the Key of the Twilight!
When Shugo awakens from being resurrected by Aura, he finds that Rena has been saved by Balmung, a moderator for The World. Balmung attempts to defeat the Golem, but Shugo beats him to it once he uses Data Drain. At this point, characters are met, and events unfold.
.Hack//Twilight is an adorable manga for any .hack fan. It jumps off from the game, .hack//INFECTION as it bases the two characters off Kite and Black Rose, but does not bring some characters into the manga, such as Elk and Mia. It is an uplifting manga that breathes into the .hack series, shying away from it's slightly darker side, .hack//SIGN with laughter and a bit of fan boy service.
If you're a fan of chibis, the .hack// series, or just a brother trying to save his sister, then this is defiantly for you.

AI Buster Aug 02, 2007 reviewed by Audria (.Hack//Ai Buster Novel Vol. 01)
This isn't a manga really, it's more a novel with a few pictures, oh ya, and LOTS OF WORDS! ^-^ The story is based on the anime and manga series .Hack, everyone's fave!
Overall, Ai Buster captures the sense of Cyberspace gaming exactly as it is, reading it will seem like you're really playing the .Hack series video game, an unforgettable adventure.

What I liked about this book was the characters, the clothes, the different personalities, the art etc.... What I didn't was the fact that it wasn't really drawing me in. Overall very good. I recommend this to any gamers.

A fun read... Jun 16, 2008 reviewed by amusmental (Julie)
I really like .Hack Twilight. The characters, costumes, artwork, and story premise were fun. The story, which is based on a popular video game series, centers around Shugo and Rena, twins who win special characters to play in The World, a computer game that lets you enter it through special headsets and equipment. They have to solve the mystery of what sinister force is threatening The World and save the players who have been falling into comas through gameplay. You run into a lot of sterotypical anime character types throughout the story, which is by no means a bad thing. The hyper girl, the shy girl, the sexy girl, the bored and mischievious child (my favorite character, in fact!), the idiotic and obsessed fanboy who thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread, the obligatory mascot, the 'people in charge' in this case represented by game moderators...It's a lot of fun. I think in particular this is a good read if you know someone who's big on video/computer games and only reads a little. It's a good way to bridge the two, what with the topic and all. Either way, I thought it was a fun read. Not my favorite series in the world, but I definitely loved it.
